[There's a very long pause as Nick just stares at that message.]

God damn it.

[And then he does almost the exact same thing he'd done when Melissa texted him the same thing about Karl.]

Where are you?

My office.

[Grumpily nursing a nice, big cup of coffee with like 4 shots in it. Caffeine makes everything better, okay?]

Nick stands at that, ducking out of his own office to head up to Karl's. He raps quickly on the door, before letting himself in.

"Normally I'm against drinking on the job, but in this case I think my vote is for taking off early and a lot of beer."

He's... not actually sure if he's joking or not.

Inside the office sits Karl and a good few stacks of documents. Between the FBI stuff and the numbers club and just general cop stuff, a whole rain forest had to have been cut down in the span of a week. Ugh, can't someone call in a bomb threat today?

Needless to say, nice as the suggestion of booze sounds, it can't happen. Far too much busywork to leave early. Karl sighs as he rubs his temple. Melissa losing her echoes and overworking himself seems to actually be getting to him. "If it weren't for the mountain of paperwork requiring to be done by today, I would take you up on that."

Nick leans against the wall, taking a closer look at Karl. That pile of paperwork looks even bigger than the one stacked on Nick's desk, and he winces a little in sympathy. "I think I might change that to sleep being more important than beer."

The sympathy is much appreciated. Higher ups are lucky enough to receive more paperwork than everyone else! Better pay, but more sanity lost thanks to filling all this out. "I need alcohol more than I need sleep." No really, he's being serious. Fun little Cruxis Crystal makes sleeping optional! It does not, however, make a Heineken magically appear out of thin air. Though a nap just to rest does have a nice ring to it.
