[A lot of really strange things have been happening to Nick lately, but he can safely say that somehow getting kidnapped on the walk from his aunt's trailer to his car, without actually seeing anyone or even being aware that he'd been knocked unconscious, was pretty much the last thing he was expecting.
So, of course, it's what apparently happened. At this point, Nick's pretty sure he should just stop not expecting things. As soon as he doesn't expect something, that's when it's going to happen.
He takes a quick stock of the situation - not exactly liking the look of the cell he's ended up in, but at least, for some reason, whoever captured him didn't take the duffelbag full of weapons he'd had with him. A peek in the bag says they're all there, along with his both his Glocks. And a try of the doorknob, which'd been half-hearted at best, because he really hadn't expected it to open, proves to be successful.
See? Never expect things.
His cellphone isn't getting any reception, so Nick shoulders his duffelbag and pulls his gun out from its holster before ducking out into the hallway. If he can manage to sneak his way to a place that gets reception, he can call for Monroe or Hank. Or, better yet, maybe he can just find a way out of here.]
[So, uh, nonhumans, let me know if you don't want Nick to be able to tell that your character isn't human? And also feel free to have any nonhumans be able to sense something strange or dangerous/predatory about Nick!]

[Ezra has already forgotten the lawless ways of his world. The whole punishment thing was just really reliable as a way to maintain balance, he's found.]
And don't call it a brand. I don't like it.
[Because he knows it's completely true.]
no subject
[Of course, this is a little more extreme than the kidnappings he's used to dealing with, even the one that was capturing people to force them to participate in a recreation of the gladiator times.]
Trust me, I don't like it, either. But have you got a better word for it?
no subject
[Ezra frowns and crosses his arms, tucking his tattoo securely under his armpit.]
Maybe it's a regular tattoo that we all just happen to have for no good reason.
no subject
[He probably won't be, unless he actually sees his home decimated for himself. And he gives Ezra a look at that, that says just how much he's buying that.]
Right. I'm sure the guy who put this on us just really likes the pattern, and wants to share it with everyone here. Clearly we don't understand his brilliance.
no subject
[Remember how this guy was horrified of you just moments ago, Nick? Well he's already forgetting that enough to start scowling at you instead.]
Shut up. I told you I don't like it.
no subject
[That's okay, Nick's used to people who were once scared of him ending up glaring at him or looking at him like he's an idiot.]
Not a big fan of sarcasm, then? All right, dropping the tattoo talk. But this better be removable. I don't make enough to have to cover for getting rid of this.
no subject
[See this, Nick? This is Ezra rolling his eyes at you. In the most exaggerated manner possible.]
Like anyone would still have them if it was possible to get rid of them. They even come back when you die. You're stuck with it like the rest of us.
no subject
Really, this guy is that passionate about his tattoos? Apparently he missed his calling as a tattoo artist. Should have gone into that, instead of jumping straight into felony kidnapping.
no subject
[But hey, you get a bit of a grin out of Ezra at that.]
With a dumb design like this? He wouldn't have made it. I think he made the right choice, he's way better at kidnapping.
no subject
It's possible that's his other secret passion. Tattooing and reading people's diaries.
[Nick chuckles slightly at Ezra's response, amused.]
Probably the only way he could actually get anyone to wear his tattoo design.
no subject
[Ezra grins, but he's quiet for a moment. Because as much as this guy has proven to actually be okay, he still gives off those uncomfortable vibes.
So Ezra does the tactful thing: he blurts out his question with no regard to what it sounds like.]
Why do you smell like that?
no subject
Because I'm a Grimm. ...which is what I'm assuming you're talking about, since I actually have showered in the last twelve hours.
[Though granted, he's done a hell of a lot of running around since then. And now he's hoping either this guy hasn't heard of Grimms, or he made a good enough impression not to have him run in terror or try to attack.]
no subject
And luckily enough, he hasn't heard of Grimms. Because if he had, Ezra probably would have bolted in the direction of his room to regroup.]
What's a Grimm?
no subject
A Grimm is someone who can tell if someone's not human, even if they're hiding, or look completely human at the time. In my case it means I stop the ones that want to hurt people, protect the ones that don't, and try to help the ones that don't want to hurt people keep their abilities in control.
no subject
So you hunt non-humans.
[And probably, at some point in his species' history, killed the ones he came across. But it seemed that had either changed, or that this guy was an exception. After all, he mentioned helping those who wanted to change, right?]
no subject
My ancestors did. And other Grimms still do. But I pretty much just solve murders, whether the killer is human or not. Half of my friends aren't human these days, so I'm really not looking to hunt anyone.
no subject
[And no, "the satisfaction of a job well done" doesn't count as something.
But he shrugs.]
Whatever. I haven't killed anyone, so I have nothing to worry about, right?
no subject
[But that mindset isn't something he ever really wants to understand.]
No, you don't have anything to worry about. I'm not going to try to hurt you.
